Teacher Loves Journalism

The journalism teacher Sarah Kirksey, who’s been at Ladue for four years, and has been teaching for 6 years overall, starting at orchard farm high school. She grew up with three older brothers, in Saint Charles Missouri. Ever since she was a child she knew she wanted to be a teacher, the idea of school and the environment a school made her happy, she likes learning new things and had cool teachers growing up. She said, “I Love the job and working with my students but my weakness of not being able to do confrontation, like if a student ever had a problem I never had before it’s hard for me to understand.” She’s very nervous nooning meeting new people so on her first day she’s always nervous even though she may not seem like it. We asked if she was not a journalism teacher what would she be, she said  I would most likely be working as an English teacher since I also gained a degree in English.” Her advice to some of her students is to be well versus things versed and things and right interviews and practice doing so. At Ladue she feels the students are insane because when she said “I simply hand out a piece of paper students say thank you and when I was working at the last school no one said it at all.” She was very surprised to hear students saying thank you Become friends so reluctant learner she said that she will “try to make The lesson about a topic they’re interested and get their attention,” most/all of the stories we will write, each student chooses and do on their own topic. We once asked her where would she want to live the most if she couldn’t move anymore at first you started to say that it was a hard question but not long after she said Colorado.
